After tons of effort and waiting, I present to you the 64p! It's the world's greatest (but not necessarily the most portable) N64 portable! Have you noticed I like to end my sentences with an exclamation mark!

Hopefully you will not be bored by it.

Nice! Just a question if you don't mind. Is there a lot of space in the N64 case? I have not opened one up yet.
Thanks

Nope, there is some space on the sides but not much other than that. To open one up I would recommend you file down some copper tubing like in the web page.

Awesome job! I've been longingly looking at your avatar since I arrived here, waiting until you finished (the N64 is my fav. system). I'm very pleased to see how great it looks and maintains almost all the looks of a regular N64. I thought it was weird how you had put the shoulder buttons, since it looked very uncomfortable. However, after picking up my beloved N64 and placing my hands approximately where the buttons are on your N64p, it really didn't feel too bad at all. Nice write-up as well.

That's almost exactly like I have pictured mine turning out. I think my big gorilla hands would fit great around that button placement.

I'll probably add a flip-down cover to my screen, I want to be able to toss it in my carry-on and forget about it. Hopefully none of the security people at the airport think it looks like a bomb.

I'm also thinking about using an original famicom case in the same fashion since I have at least one laying around already.

I still working on my N64P. I took it apart and soldered my controller to it and it was dead (or was it?). I hope it isn't but when i tried it the light wouldn't come on at all and i held it safely when i was working. So i hope to finish mine by x-mas if it works

i was planning on finishing mine eventually (sometime next year before february) but then i found a DC-DC convertor that gets 5v and 3.3v and i can't pass up something that good so i ordered it right away and that should speed things up several months :D

Great job, looks good! The copper tube trick is very clever, even MacGyver-ish! Liked the story too, very ben-ish :) (sop you're a mix of ben an MacGyver I guess :P )
So you use a lead acid battery? You could make a lighter 6 AA holder with parts from radio shack if you wanted. Just a thought.

I guess I didn't explain that very well.. It runs off of 10 AA ni-mh 2200mah batteries that are built inside. the lead-acid battery was just for testing.
