Not to also mention that Sony's CD-ROM's are warping, clouding and becoming exceptionally rare to find, own and buy.
Err, all the discs I have are still doing fine, even US launch titles. The only issues I have are scratches on used discs, and nothing as bad as used original XBox games sometimes get. Exceptionally rare? The console that has sold over 100 million units worldwide and, while there are rare and interesting games out there for it, you make it sound like a copy a Crash Bandicoot is something only found once in a blue moon.

Anyways, ambitious project, I hope it goes well.

Killer! seems like this is really going along well. Would there be a simple mod to replace the CD drive with an SD card, like the WiiKey? Would be super helpful in making a snazzy PS1p.

Oh...

I'll just watch then and leave my actions-without-thinking to myself.

Wondering, if it will be possible to have some sort of network connectivity with this... As a proud owner of two PSX's with not-100%-working cd-drives, I'm keeping tabs on this one.

It is possible, but complex.

you'd need dedicated servers to run the online network, plus software on the PS1 to connect. It'd be hard.

Glad to see you got a prototype started! I really hope this project goes through! Are you using an FPGA board?
