Yes, that is correct.

Progress! Screen and speaker holes cut out of the front:

I bent some brackets out of shielding and soldered them to the back. I will be adding a triangle on the side for support, too:

No crap.

And if the filter got me, I didn't say crap. You don't deserve that kindness.

Nice, mario.

B_M: You're right, it will have mono built-in sound, but the headphone port will be stereo.

Minor updates. I have been busy with school, but I now have a deadline - January second! I am going to enter an Instructable on this portable and enter it into the Epilog Challenge to try to win a Zing laser cutter! Instructables is only accepting entries until January second, so I need to hurry.

No pictures for now, but hopefully soon.
I got the cart slot cover painted grey with primer, and I am leaving it that color. I think it looks good.
I got the A, B, C, and joystick holes drilled out on the front. (Related - ever try a unibit? They are AMAZING!)
I ordered a sample of a PTH08080 and PTH08000 from Ti; they arrived today. My batteryspace batteries also came and an expansion pack I ordered from eBay.

I was going to get 5000mAh batteries, but they were out of stock. :( I had to get 3600mAh batteries due to time and space restrictions. :? Later I may buy 5000mAh batteries and replace them. We shall see.

I'm just waiting on my N64's from jleemero; then I can really get started.

EDIT: Where'd I get the name? Simple. This is my third N64 portable. 3 -> 64. :P

Minuscule update. I had a little spare time today so I mounted the A, B, and C buttons.
Don't expect this to be a regular thing, now.

What's that you say? You're going to be updating every day now? It's going to be a regular thing? Good!

Suuuure. :P

One interesting thing I noticed this morning, though, was this.
I first saw it on the rev.3 motherboard I am going to use for this portable, but it's on my two dead rev.3's as well.

Image

See the silvery-white dots between the RAM and jumper slot? Those are solder points. They are not there on my rev.5 or any later ones I have. Not sure about rev.4, but these solder points should make it MUCH easier to relocate the jumper pack.

The vias right above them all go to ground, most directly but 4-5 through capacitors.

Has anybody noticed this before?

What are the blue wires doing on our motherboard?
