N64/screen problems
Moderator:Moderators
i rewired my cart slot, and it was working fine, up until today. the n64 wouldn't turn on. i desoldered all those wires and put it back to normal. it turns on now, but there is still no image on the screen. idk if this is a ribbon cable problem or something, because when i turn it on, its blenk except for some flickering near the bottom of the screen......... idk what to do!!

Is your screen connected through the jack in the back? Or is it connected directly to the board?

Re: N64/screen problems
Check all your solder joints once more and be sure to make sure that no pins are touching.
I know how annoying it is to pin point a error / mistake, but try and don't give up...

Re: N64/screen problems
make sure the cart slot is connected to the joints not the holes.
Re: N64/screen problems
so if some of the pins from the cart slot were touching the holes, it wouldn't work? how do they make contact with the board then?

Re: N64/screen problems
they go through the holes hit the expansion slot and then go to the solder contacts next to the hole when the extension slot is removed the cart slot wont work.

Re: N64/screen problems
There are plenty of things it could be;
1. are you running it off of battery power (if so are the batteries completely charged and supply the right amount of voltage) or wall power
2. have you tried running the n64 on a standard tv instead of whatever your using for you display
3. does your screen actually turn on
other then that the only thing I can think of is to make sure that all the solder joints are strong, nothing's bridging and check for dust
