N64 Cartridge Relocation Guide
Parts
N64
SCSI cable
Terminal Blocks (sometimes referred to as terminal strips)
Working Cartridge (for testing)
Tools
Fine nosed pliers
Instructions
Open the N64 take off ALL heat sinks and shielding. Remove cartridge slot by pulling gently or levering it up with the fine nosed pliers.
Now the cable should be female-female but we need it to be male to female. So take your terminal blocks and push them into the terminals so the shorter end is poking out keep in mind that there are two halve of the slot on the board so you will need to take one pin out in the middle (it is a good idea to add a small amount of glue along the top of the terminal to stop the terminal bocks pulling out). This is a good point to put the cartridge slot on take the end of the cable that still has its female terminal intact and place the slot on top push down carefully (if you bend the pins at this point they can be hard to get back). Now place the terminal block end of the cable onto the spot where the cartridge slot came out of remembering the orientation and push down.
Alternative Methods
You can solder onto the board by soldering onto the contacts of the EXT slot this method is slower and less effective but very possible.
If you are soldering it is very easy to remove the EXT slot and placing the wires through the board. This cuts down the size further.
I will upload a few pictures and find some parts suppliers soon
if you have any questions post them here or PM me

hey *o*,
are these the IDC connectors you are describing?
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Mod ... 4&doy=14m6
Or are they something different?, or could these be adapted to work?
If so I can finally move the cartridge slot.
