Re: L.E.D
Step 1. Figure out what kind of led you will use, your choice.
Step 2. Solder a resistor to your led for 3.3volts
Step 3. Solder the positive side of the led to the red wire going from the n64 to the controller
Step 4. Solder the negative side of the led to the black wire going from the n64 to the controller
And that's it
Repeat steps for more leds.
This will tell you what resistor you need for your specific led

yeah and we dont have radioshacks ;(
Re: L.E.D
Geeze then you are just out of luck aren't you?
I owned my $6 radioshack soldering iron for a year before I just got a nicer one. Even did some SMD soldering with it.

Pshhh, I have to grind my Weller tip down every 2 days, so that it is even a point.thewise1 wrote:They break down really fast, Mine when through a tip in about a week, I'm going to look into getting a weller one of these days.

Re: L.E.D
you must not be doing a good job. i have weller tips (on my hakko clone) that i have sanded down, and they still work just fine. what are you ginding em with? if they arent smooth (REALLY SMOOTH) they oxidize way faster than normal.NateN34 wrote:Pshhh, I have to grind my Weller tip down every 2 days, so that it is even a point.thewise1 wrote:They break down really fast, Mine when through a tip in about a week, I'm going to look into getting a weller one of these days.

I don't think you studied your soldering basics, there are some things you should know to keep your tip in good shape.

Or your iron is faulty, probably fluctuating temperatures if it is, it's the cool down that really hurts the iron.
Re: L.E.D
Am I the only one who saw the crappy tip and thought "That looks just like my iron's tip..."? I really need to invest in a Weller and one of those gold metal cleany sponge things.thewise1 wrote:I don't think you studied your soldering basics, there are some things you should know to keep your tip in good shape.
