wierd psx problems

Post by footinmouth » Sat Feb 13, 2010 12:42 pm

hey guys, this is my first post in a long time. Anyways, the other day I felt like playing Guardians Crusade and my playstation started doing funny things. Sometimes when I walk to a place that I have passed several times but have not gone to yet, the area it is in will all be black (the game has an isometric view) and the game will freeze and load the rest of the map and the music is laggy at most times. I've tried to play some of my other playstation games, but only some of them will load :( . The only solution ive found is to turn my playstation sideways. Is there any permanent fix for this.
i hate how electronic part suppliers give you an option on their website to filter your searches so that you can find a certain part and no results come up!

if I remember correctly, many ps1 disk drives wore out easily and were somewhat defective. Just in case, try cleaning the disk drive lens. If that fails, I think you need a new disk drive.(or just get a new ps1)

It's not the lens it's the laser assembly. It had bad plastic rails that would wear out. Flipping the Ps1 upside down caused it to ride the rails properly and work. looks like you need a new one. Fortunately you can get them for about $13 shipped :)

also, the psx is a ps2/dvr, why are you posting it in the ps1 section?
