First N64p project...advice/help?

It shouldnt have a led for power. But you can remove the backlight and replace it with 4 LEDs to save batteries.

Check all the pins with a magnifier.

Re: First N64p project...advice/help?
All right. Ive made some progress. I redid the cart slot relocation and looks a lot cleaner. Do I need to bridge the inside and outside connections? I only soldered to the inside ones because those are the ones that the cart slot goes into. Also, when I give the screen and the N64 power, they both turn on but the screen's backlight turns on and the speakers make a really high pitched sound. I tried this with no connection to the A/V and got the same thing. Does this mean I've fried the screen or is it a voltage problem? The screen is getting just about 7.0v with 3000maH. My batteries are 7.2v but they aren't giving off 7.2v (just under 7.2) so I'm getting my new batteries soon from battery space. Any help here? My next step is to hook up the n64 to my tv to see if its working. I'll post pics soon.

Alright. So I plugged it into my TV and.......nothing:( but the voltage readout is 7.0v on the n64 and on the screen. I'm pretty sure the least possible amount of voltage is 7.2v for everything so this could be my problem. The batteries I'm ordering from batteryspace will have 7.4v and are much higher quality than my current ones so It should stay at 7.4v.

The inner connections do not connect to anything unless the expansion slot is connected, and it's a bad idea to run it without heatsinks.

I bridged the connections and now the N64 wont turn on any more. I don't know what happened. I'll charge the batteries and try again tomorrow
Re: First N64p project...advice/help?
7.2v is the minimum for the 12v line of the N64, 5v for the PSOne screen I believe.

Re: First N64p project...advice/help?
On the board of my screen it says 7.5v where I soldered the battery circuit to it. But my n64 still wont turn on! Is this just because my voltage is too low or does this mean its fried? It worked one second then I did the cart slot bridging (inside and outside) and then it didn't turn on anymore. I didn't see a spark or anything.

What if you use an original AC-adapter?

my adapter is broken I'm charging the batteries some more now and hoping that it's just voltage....i don't really want to buy another n64

Re: First N64p project...advice/help?
Problems. Solved some. Figured some out. First off, N64 wasn't turning on because I had accidentally soldered one of the pins to ground as well as bridging it. I really lucked out that that didn't fry the mobo because it was shorting my 3.3v line and causing it not to turn on. Speaking of 3.3v, my 3.3v regulator sucks and can't handle the current I'm putting through it, so it was only putting out like 2.8v so the logic on the board wasn't functioning and I wasn't getting any A/V output. Fortunately I already have one of those PTH8000 thingys. Unfortunately I don't have a 100 microfarad capacitor. Just 2 10 microfarad ones. I'll order one somewhere probably. I'll post a video or a pic or something of this thing working when I get my capacitors.

Re: First N64p project...advice/help?
Got my new regulator hooked up but my screen just goes Pfffff and flashes when i turn it on and my multimeter readout is 6.8v for overall, 6.8 on the n64, 6v on the screen and 3v on the 3.3v line. Do my batteries just need charging or am i having other problems? (regulator is the PTH 08000)

Re: First N64p project...advice/help?
RRRGH...still won't work. for some reason the longer I charge the batteries the lower the voltage goes. I hooked it up to a 9v AC adapter i found in my garage and i get a blank screen and a high pitched sound (just like before but this time it doesn't turn off) does this mean ive fried my screen? I'll try it on a TV soon and tell you the results
