Thanks for the link, Kyo.
These are the locations I want to chop. Is it going to work to grind down to the copper and reconnect the traces if the pieces are separated at these spots?
Here's the original. Use it as a template for visual suggestions ^_^
Thanks in advance!

I say go hardcore
Re: Biased's Worklog - Help needed and appreciated!
I took the plunge. Doing more work on it in the morning along with the cart slot relocation.

Lol well I ruined the controller, I'm gonna have to cut up another one.
Also got my cart slot relocation done up, but the wire is a bit more stiff than it seemed before I did the work. I'm not at home so I'll have to see if she'll power up and play once I'm there tomorrow.

What do you mean by ruined the controller?
Re: Biased's Worklog - Help needed and appreciated!
Meh I just ruined some traces that don't go to any buttons, I also kind of got my soldering iron too close to the IC, not sure if I ruined it. I don't have a multimeter (I really should though, I know.), but if I borrow my dad's I'll find out what goes where and if I can just solder to connections in different spots.joeyjoe9876 wrote:What do you mean by ruined the controller?

Lol I didn't see the dotted white box around the IC in that picture you posted until last night
But none of that matters since apparently my cart slot relocation didn't work.... what gauge wire should I be using for something like that?

For the cart slot relocation, use 22-24 guage wire.
Also, tried relinking those leads?

I think I'm gonna have to start over, hardware-wise at least. I'm gonna swap out my second, larger-sized SNES board that I was going to modify in case of my failures for the smaller revision one that my older brother has at his house. I'm not sure if the 22-gauge wire is the problem, I'm gonna have to cut a pin and reconnect it with the 22 and see if it works or not. If it doesn't I'm going to go for 24 or smaller wire.
Re: Biased's Worklog - Help needed and appreciated!
Fact being that my current SNES board is toast for some reason, I found another one and I'm going to start work on it soon. Can anyone suggest a good brand of wire to use or a good place to get wire for the project? Also any tips on a cart slot relocation are helpful since I didn't seem to do it right last time
Re: Biased's Worklog - Help needed and appreciated!
any wire is fine. Try not to get too close to any chips with the soldering iron and try not to heat up the spots too long.

@Kyo: This is what you're saying I can do, right? Reconnecting the corresponding color-coded points on the IC to the points of color on the rest of the controller is what I'm getting out of all of this
