it is.smitty wrote:edit: why isn't the lol smiley animated anymore?
A truly wise man can entertain a thought without accepting it. A fool cannot withhold past judgments but instead closes his mine to new possibilities. Someone who wants to innovate simply needs to forget what everyone says isn't possible.

that's weird, it wasn't showing the animation. but now it is....chainfire95 wrote:it is.smitty wrote:edit: why isn't the lol smiley animated anymore?
Re: Dr Neo, The Myth 64 cart (nintendo 64 flash cart)
I'm not really sure how this item will help out on the n64 port scene.....(not yet anyways)
I too have followed its progress on Dr Neo's site for some time.
Reasons for this:
Seems these days the challenge with most portables is to 'make it as small as possible'
So, even if you had money to burn and were to rip this new cart to pieces, no doubt you would still have to incorporate:
1. The 'mystery' PCB inside the Myth 64 cart
2. The Myth 512M flash cart (which is very limited in size as to how many games it can hold at once) **See note below**
3. The internals of an OEM cartridge (which connect at 90* on the back of the Myth cart) for boot up.
Not to mention the significant amount of rewiring the has arrived now as well!
My concern is that it may not be as space saving as it seems.
* note
2.1 - is it multiboot yet? haven't read anything bout that yet.
2.2 - you would have to boot your PC every time you wanted to change you games, i.e. wipe cart, then re flash
2.3 - Maybe the SD flash cart would take care of this? time will tell I guess
Lots of unknowns at this moment.
Would be very keep to hear how the testing goes with one of the locals around here.
That's just my views though - think I'll keep watching how marshallh goes with his unit.
Apologies for boring anyone with this - just thought i would provoke some extra though and see what you guys think.
Thanks for listening

There's a completly logical explanation for the price different with DS flashcards.
There are over 100000000 DS'es sold worldwide, and most of them are still being played on. There are like, 36000000 N64's sold worldwide, and most of them aren't being played on anymore.
A DS flashcard will easely sell a million times, but an N64 flashcard probarly a couple of thousand times?

I'm kinda pissed people are gaggling over the $200 price,
first off: If you really want one and realize how much work went into this and how long someone has been trying to make one then the $200 price tag is quite low
second: look at the alternatives, a slow ass doctor v64jr, or a huge doctor 64 that is most likely broken and you'd be frigged trying to make it work
thirdly: n64 games were expensive, back in the days $200 was like 6 games.....
fourthly: if you don't have the money then get a job, whats the average rate in america? like $10, go work for twenty hours, one weekend.

Am I the only one remembering N64 games as being as expensive as PS3 and 360 games?blaze3927 wrote:thirdly: n64 games were expensive, back in the days $200 was like 6 games.....
Ocarina of Time was originally $48
So was Goldeneye 007
Re: Dr Neo, The Myth 64 cart (nintendo 64 flash cart)
But that was back then. The highest price I`ve seen on amazon for an N64 game was 10 dollars. $200 could get you at least 20 games. This flashcart can hold almost that many. But what would you rather have, 20 games you don`t already have, or a few games you`ve already beaten put onto one cartridge?jleemero wrote:Am I the only one remembering N64 games as being as expensive as PS3 and 360 games?blaze3927 wrote:thirdly: n64 games were expensive, back in the days $200 was like 6 games.....

Heh, same here. I make 35 a day, working eight hours. No overtime, either.Triton wrote:minimum wage where i live is 7.25 an hour and if you can find a job at all consider yourself lucky, 10$ an hour is a good paying job by my standards
If you're getting 404'd when trying to use the links in stickies, try this tutorial to find that juicy info.

this thing lets you put games onto the cartridge over usb, so download a game that you havent played before :\smitty wrote:But that was back then. and btw youd be forking out at least $250-$500 for any other n64 backup device
if $200 is too much then either wasit possibly a while until its cheaper, or just use an emulator

I just wanna know how it will work with texture hacked roms, particularly the "Hi-Def" OOT one.

No N64 flashcart will ever be able to support any of the HD texture hacks. It's emulator-only.

That is what I feared. Thanks for the confirmation!marshallh wrote:No N64 flashcart will ever be able to support any of the HD texture hacks. It's emulator-only.
What about the more mundane modifications like those custom SM64 ROMs that are floating around?
