I just got a Dreamcast at EBgames and I love it. I'm trying to put Linux on it right now. But I need to find a lan adapter. Well any way I wanna make a portable computer out of a Dreamcast.

$150? I saw an auction that ends today and the bid (at 19hours left) was only ~$80.

As for theLinux thing I've been around to find it. You'll have to get the keyboard and mouse or buy two adapters that aloue PS/2 connections. Then they also say you'll have to use a monitor or VGA as the screen doesnt look good on a standard tv.

If you want an alturnitive that is every close to Linux, NetBSD has a Dreamcast port thats still being worked on.

What version of this are you using? I found that this distro was very unstable, and it barely had anything to it. Seems that LinuxDC has released a cd image, gonna have to try that out.

I think I might make a laptop than. The main point was to run xmame on it. I don't know which kind of Linux I'm gonna use yet (Sorry Vb-master).
Oh and for $.01 I found the adapter but its gonna end high. I just don't wanna pay over $50. Lik-sang used to have them too.

I used to confuse your avatars

Looking through my fav. I found this. http://www.fivemouse.com/dclinux.html#B ... %20to%20CD

Also if your looking for a distro to try out I'd suggest DamnSmallLinux.org (its a live-CD no installation required) or you can look at a list of distros at linux.org (under distrobutions) or Distrowatch has a good list and reviews.

For the hard drive Dreamcast I'd suggest looking at NetBSD, they have a more extencive info and detailed work then linuxDC

For NetBSD, don't you have to have a broadband adapter to use it?

I just bought another dreamcast but the problem is its a colecters edition. The sega sports one and it has the original box and everything. So I can't do any extensive hardware mods. Basically use the serial port and stuff instead.
