CHAPTER TWO: The Return Of The A/C Army
Moderator:Moderators
This is part two in the ever-exciting series:
Losing Sanity: The Art of Soldering.
You can look back at part one here:
CHAPTER ONE: The Failure Of King 9V
===============================================
Ok guys. I did it. My SNES is back on wall current, and guess what?
THE SOUND WORKS.
So, I know nothing's fried. My question is, WHAT NOW?
Its still fully functional! Sound is still alive. But how do i hook up power to a system that hates batteries?!

try using some NiMh or NiCad batteries...if you're using normal alkaline ones, then perhaps they can't output enough current....also, try using enough batteries to get 12v...perhaps your SNES just needs a higher voltage to get sound to work...(the AC adapter outputs 10v, I believe)
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Ok guys, Im seriously angry now.
so far:
i had it on wall=SOUND
i had it on 9v=NONE!
i had it on wall, again=SOUND
i had it on 6-D's=NONE! (9v total)
i had it on 8-D's=NONE! (12v total)
WHAT IS THIS?! SOME KIND OF SICK JOKE!?
Somehow, my snes knows its on battery, and in anger, shuts off the sound. What do I do?

Yes. You should just bite the bullet and be aware that portables cost money. Certain types of batteries won't be suitable, no matter how big they are. If the system isn't getting the CURRENT it needs, it's not gonna work no matter how much VOLTAGE you give it.
You can try plugging in 2 or 3 9V batteries in parallel just to see if that'll get sound back, but don't run it for very long that way, as it might cause "fun" things to happen... like exploding batteries.
Also, is it possible that your cabling is too thin to get the proper amperage to the system? Even if the batteries can provide it, if the wires can't, you're stuck.

OK, It worked, well kinda. I got video...but again, no sound.
I'm not understanding this at all:
How does the fact that its NIMH change the result???
I mean is it more amps? more volts?
Im confused.
What is the heart of the issue, and how do NIMH batteries fix it?
UPDATE!!!!
At the seemingly wise information of (Dave), i hooked up my 7.4v, 800mah Sony Camcorder Battery...You guessed it.
Video, No Sound.

How do you have the whole setup for electricity from a wall source? Maybe when you use a battery, you may have jumped something on the board, or something.
When in Japan with access to just about every system ever made and those that have yet to see international soil, gather your forces, and make the cool ones your own.
