Hailrazer's 2nd N64 - The Kamikaze64

Post by hailrazer » Tue Nov 17, 2009 5:46 pm

Well I am building a second N64. I am building it on commission for one of our newer members aquadianeffect.
Since I am at his beck and call and have no little control over this one I have nicknamed it the Kamikaze64.

So far my plans are:

1. Case - I am thinking of using the same case as my Ncube, but I also have a different more rectangle case on the backburner.
2. Screen - Zenith Psone
3. Batteries - 2 7.4V 4700 mAh Lithium Poly's or a 7.4v 6600 mAh Camcorder lithium.
3. Donor Pad - The Hori Mini-Pad. I love the stick on it (same stick used in the Gamecube Pad) and the buttons and d-pad are great also.
4. Triggers , Z buttons - Thinking about using the Ps1 triggers again. They are nice and comfortable
5. Memory card slot will be included
6. Expansion pack will be included
7. 2nd Player slot will be included
8. Battery/Wall adapter switch and jacks will be included.
9. Cart slot will be internal and re-located.
10. Headphone jack included

Things undecided :
1. Case Color

I will be updating this as I go for your pleasure and to keep aquadianeffect up-to-date on the progress.

In the end there will be only one....Kamikaze

Wooo! I knew it. Finally, a portable with full compatibility!
If you're getting 404'd when trying to use the links in stickies, try this tutorial to find that juicy info.

Thanks a lot for this. I'd love to make my own portable someday but I doubt that will ever happen seeing as my few attempts at basic soldering failed. :(

No problem :)

I have another Datamax Kidz Delight system on it's way to me. Is that the case you want me to use?

The front would look very similar to my Gamecube Ncube. But more like this :

And what color were you thinking for the system? Black like the N64, or white or ??

Then Black it will be, unless of course you change your mind before I start painting. But that won't be for a little while. I'll be sure to ask again before then :)

That is a sweet case. I am just wondering can you use the screen that comes with it? (The Datamax Kidz Delight system).

These photos are from an N64p project that has never been finished... incidentally, it was also my first project, so it's pretty rough:

an suggestion:
make the 2 portables connected to eachother via a controller wire, much like the gameboy's link cable
