I like the design, but the overall thinness of the unit looks a little...umm... ideal.

if by ideal you mean improbable. What console is this going to be?

He's 16. The console is 10 years old already - far older than he was when it released.

Unless he happened to look at what forum he was in, did you really expect him to know the obscure codename of a console that was effectively dead before he was old enough to cross the street unaccompanied?

That said, here's the cheat sheet of consoles and their codenames - study! There will be a quiz:

Stella - Atari 2600
Pam - Atari 5200
Mars - Sega 32X
Saturn - Sega Saturn
Reality - Nintendo 64
Katana/Dural/Black Belt - Sega Dreamcast
Dolphin - Nintendo Gamecube
Marz - Microsoft XBox
Xenon - Microsoft XBox 360
Revolution - Nintendo Wii

DMG (Dot Matrix Game) - Nintendo Gameboy
Venus - Sega Nomad
Mercury - Sega Game Gear
CGB (Color Game Boy) - Nintendo Gameboy Color
Atlantis - Nintendo Gameboy Advance
Oxygen - Nintendo Gameboy Micro
Nitro - Nintendo DS

Did I miss any?

DMG is a crapton faster to write than GameBoy.
GBC is faster than GameBoy Color.
Pam is faster than Atari 5200.

As for the others its a quick way to get an interesting name that still relates to the orijinal.
copulate all you goddamn smartasses.

Plus, it makes identifying accessories and games easier.

For example, item numbers that start with "DOL-" are Gamecube items, "RVL-" are for Wii, "DMG-" will be for original Gameboy, etc. When you're looking at crap on a shelf in a thrift store, for example, these can clue you in as to what it's for.

Plus, it's just random video game knowledge that we geeks should know. Like how the Playstation came about due to Nintendo's canceled deal with Sony.

And how Nintendo was originally going to join Atari to release their NES.

The N64 was Ultra 64 for a while but I dont know if that was a code name or if they just renamed it at a later stage.

You're right. I didn't include it because it wasn't a code name per se.

However, that's why the part number for N64-related goodies begins NUS- (Nintendo Ultra Sixtyfour).

Good call.
