Ok. I think I will try to start this earlier then june. The only thing I have right now is a controller and the n64. Also, I seem to only find psone screens running at $60. Is it worth it?

Really, $60? have you been looking at ebay? There is a guy selling a ton of zenith screens for $45 plus $5 shipping. I just bought one from him an hour ago.

Re: THE MGSAN64P!
Oh, i didn't realize. Is that the brand, Zenith?
What do I need besides a screen, the console, and a controller?
Is there a guide on how to cut the n64 mobo down?
What is this Lob64 thing, I'm hearing so much about?
Anything else important I should know?

The zenith screens are exactly the same as the ps1 screen.mikeyg wrote:Oh, i didn't realize. Is that the brand, Zenith?

besides what you mentioned needing, you will definitely need a battery. I would go with Nicd or Nimh, since they are not as explosive. But that's just coming from worrysome me.
There is not a guide on cutting down the n64, but you can cut down all the ground surrounding the mobo. I wouldn't cut down the mobo much more than that, since this is your first portablizing adventure.
The Lob64 is something you can add to your n64 portable to allow multiplayer with another n64 portable. This is only an optional thing though.
For anything else to know, I would say use a good 3rd party controller. As you probably know, the official controller's joysticks get really loose and wobbly, and you can't replace them. With a 3rd party controller, you can swap the joystick with one from say a GC controller or PS1/2/3 dualshock.

I don't think I'll put a LOB64 in.
I think I may want to cut it down some.
A third party like the superpad the one that almost is like a playstation controller.

Re: THE MGSAN64P!
Good idea on not going to the trouble of putting in a Lob64 port. it's not likely you will ever see another n64 portable in real life unless you make two or go to MGC.

Re: THE MGSAN64P!
Could you give a link for a ps1 screen?
When I look, I only get 5 results and they are $60+.

Thanks. And don't worry about this guy's screens going away. He has a large amount of them and has been relisting his unsold ones for the past few weeks.

Re: THE MGSAN64P!
I tried the bic pen method. It did not work so well. The plastic melted in the screw post. So, I may need to buy a dremel making my price limit go down about $50...

Re: THE MGSAN64P!
1. I do have worklogs, but the portables are not done. Actually they are not even n64. They are retro duo ( now fc twin) and noac.
2 The only batteries I ever mess with are ones from old RC cars. But those batteries can be pretty heavy. Just get a battery with plenty of mAh. Around 4500 or so. If you get a lithium battery make sure you get a proper charging circuit for it. And make sure you are careful with lithium batteries too. They can explode.
3 Can't get the bic method to work? Then tear that SOB n64 apart! jam a flathead screwdriver into the side of the case and start twisting. Or You could try cutting the screwposts off by using a hacksaw along the corners.

Re: THE MGSAN64P!
This weekend I'm going to the berlin mart, which is like a big garage sale in jersey. Looking for a cheap portable dvd player, a screen and batteries in one right? If this works, I can stay in budget, hopefully.
