Why did you solder RIGHT OVER THE BOARD when you didn't have to?

So he wouldn't have to move the camera while he was "in the zone"

Oh. Right.

I'll pay you $40/h to relocate my cart slot if it only takes 45 minutes. $30? Yeah? Yeah?

whoa..

What kind of wires were you using there?
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

Pretty sure he used computer IDE/ribbon cable. That's what mine looks like.

Well that's just freakin' sweet. Love the rockin' music. Not looking forward to cartridge slot relocation for my portable. Maybe I'll watch this again before I attempt it for motivation, lol.

Haha. I can do it in 15 minutes, but then again I don't plug in my hot glue gun and shoot glue all over my case every 5 minutes.

Plus, if you did it that fast you wouldn't make as much doing it by the hour.

So you can seriously solder 4.6 connections per second?

Did you see any glue? I don't need any.

I wasn't going for speed either.

Lolwut?

Actually, thinking about it, it'd be about 17 - 20 seconds per joint, right?
Of course, that's for half the job... Soldering all those to the connector, and to the N64, well, roughly 8 - 10 seconds per joint, yeah?

Seems entirely doable if nothing decides to create problems for you :P

Formula for relocated cart slot in 15 minutes:

48 pins + 48 contacts + 96 wire ends(tinning) = 192 connections

15 minutes * 60 seconds = 900 seconds in 15 minutes

900 seconds / 192 connections = 4.6875 connections per second

4.6875 connections per second = marshallh's claims = inhuman

Your math is correct, except for your label.

900 seconds / 192 connections = 4.6875 seconds per connection (not connections per second)

It sounds insanely fast, but half the connections are merely tinning, which, as your time-lapse video showed, goes pretty quickly, leaving you more time for making the actual connections.

The 'rocking music' is from F-Zero X (N64). Played that game to death. Great video, by the way. You're crazy. :)
