Poll: The N64 vs The Sony Playstation!!! FIGHT!!!

Post by benheck » Thu Apr 22, 2004 10:50 pm

Hello folks, Ben here. This is a poll, battle-to-the-death kinda thing that has been raging on since 1996! Which WAS better, the N64 or the Playstation 1? What was cooler, having a CD-ROM and 10 foot draw-distances or instant loading and far-off horizons and BOND? Vote and be heard!

Well, at this point, accroding to the poll, PS1=N64, so HA!

My vote goes for the N64. The N64 had the goods in reference to hardware, and the games are still awesome to play even today. I agree that the PSX had the edge in sheer volume of titles, but the stellar games that were for the N64 alone are hard to ignore. For example:

Action: Blast Corps, Jet Force Gemini
Platform/Adventure: Banjo-Kazooie & Tooie, Conker's BFD, Super Mario 64, Donkey Kong 64
Sports: 1080 Snowboarding, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Excitebike 64
Racing: Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, WaveRace
RPG: Zelda, Paper Mario
Shooter: Goldeneye, Perfect Dark
Party: Mario Party Series, Super Smash Brothers

Those are all games I would play through entirely. I can't name half as many I would want to play at all on the PSX.

N64: Simply having built in 4-player support when I was 12 or so made it better. The graphics were better, and the games were/are better (in my opinion).

As much as I hate to admit it, the Playstation is better than the N64, but in NO WAY does that make the N64 any less of a system.

I cast my vote for the PSOne. Granted there are times that the N64 comes out in front, but game length is clearly not one of them. Thats why (my beloved) armoed core and final fanasy games couldnt be ported to the n64. Could you imagine the size of the cartrige required to play ff7. Lack of game length is the biggest divide for me between the two.

I'd have to say N64. The amount of hours I've played on it, whether it be mutiplayer or single player, is enormous. I've never had a Playstation but Playstation just doesn't have Zelda, Mario, Bond, and many, many other N64 exculsive titles.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

When I was lucky enough to borrow a projector from work, I used the N64 with Glodeneye pretty much the whole time. (the rest was a PS2 since it was the easiest to get DVD player) I don't think a Playstation could come close to anything like that.
