got my second FC16GO! so i can start figuring out what parts from it i am going to be able to use :D the LCD for sure because it will save me a lot of room, and possibly the snes board as well, but i might just stick with the FC16 board that i already have. but given the lower voltages that the FC16go runs on it might be worth it to swap just to save on battery space!

FC 16 Go can be wired up to eliminate the daughter board (PCB with the controls and stuff) and accepts either 3.7v or 5v. 5v is more efficient though.

it was pretty clear by looking at the pinouts that it would work sans daughterboard, the only issue i am going to have to work on is a boosting regulator to drive the LEDs for the lcd backlight as it runs on 18v as mentioned in the other thread. the snes will be running on one 3.7v lipoly cell.

and OMG UPDATE! i did some work on the case today, working on reinforcing the sides of the shell so they fit together nice and wont flex too much. PROTIP: 3m respirator masks are AWESOME, they will save your lungs and such, plus not having to smell this AWFUL odor from that plastic weld stuff is a good thing

new pics! please keep in mind that with the processes i use things generally look HORRIBLE until they are almost done

For this round of case work i decided to try something i havent before, a product called Plastic Weld
Image
now this stuff is like an epoxy but it bonds well with plastics, way better than the JBweld and weld epoxy i have used before. it has much better strength than my liquid ABS mixture, the only downside is it smells HORRIBLE! work in a well ventilated area and wear a mask. because of working with harmful organic vapors (epoxies, resins, bondo type products, and solvents) i've purchased a 3m respirator mask like this one
Image
it does a fantastic job of keeping the nasty fumes out of my lungs! :D and now for the pictures you folks care about! the progress i made a couple days ago! more work coming soon, i have a large pole building to clean first :(

sorry for the lame quality, had to resize them after uploading because they were too big  questions and comments always appriciated!

Well it's a work in progress so it should look messy :P . Looks good, and this may be the smallest SNES portable when finished! Correct me if I'm wrong.

By the way, is that a lever action rifle in those pictures?
I have nothing clever to say here. Sorry.

first off. Yes, it IS pokemon yellow, i had a spare copy and figured, hell why not . i've been working on it today and it is definitely looking better than it does in the above pictures already, by later tonight i should have the rest of the walls built up and attached, assuming i dont run out of plastic weld  and yes, that IS a lever action rifle! Its my Marlin Golden model 39A lever action .22 rifle, circa 1965 with a 4x32 simmons scope on it. that rifle, i can group inside an inch at 75 yards easily with it, plan on doing some more target shooting with it this summer.

expect more pictures tonight or tomorrow on the snes! and about it being the smallest snes portable ever? i'm not sure but it will be pretty darn small! which is all the more impressive for the fact that the cartridge will be fully enclosed inside the system :D
