(So close to beating that record!)
You still hold the record for the highest US serial with your other N64 console though! Its also the only N64 console thats been reported to use the NUS-CPU-09 revision motherboard and was not in a refurbished casing.
...Out of curiousity do you know if the cartridge slot (Beneath the cartridge slot flaps) on your NS297648602/NUS-CPU-09 is grey, or colored? I only ask as the only other NUS-CPU-09 was a refurbished black system, and it used a green colored cartridge slot beneath the cartridge slot flaps.

Perhaps you could consider adding info on overclocking stability too, for example in my experience NUS-CPU(P)-01 boards are no good at all, they freeze after about 30 seconds when OC'd, while NUS-CPU(P)-02 OC without a hitch.

Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
anyone here know what the final letters stand for within the manufacturer's code on the boxes and cassettes of N64 game paks? id est, Banjo-Kazooie = NUS P NBKE (USA), NUS P NBKP (EUR) etc.
I have figured out that NUS = Nintendo Ultra Sixty-four; P possibly means "Pak"; N = Nintendo; in this example, BK is the cassette id for Banjo-Kazooie. The problem is the regional id. E for U.S.? I figure that P possibly means PAL and that J possibly means NTSC-J (Japan) and that E may identify an EIA/NTSC (or US) system. But there is an X and U used to identify Australia that confuses me. U? maybe UHF system but X? any disgruntled Nintendo employees want to dish?
any ideas?
also, anyone here have any photos of the Funtastic series in any color (but atleast 800+ resolution.) and possibly any of the safety marks on or within the console?
[photo tip: disable photo flash and use a soft reflection of any light upon the console. id est, reflect a lamp light off of a wall or cieling.]
any help is greatly appreciated.

Here's a nice one to further flesh out the NUS-CPU-07 range...

Too bad I ordered that particular console from the USA without knowing the revision.
Anyone want to swap mobos so I can RGB-mod?

Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
Sorry that I haven't been updating this thread, I have just been busy with other things and havent really been keeping up with new posts, so i'm fixing that now
Thanks also for the info about overclocking, I have added a note about it under the NUS-CPU(P)-02 revision. There is a small mention about overclocking in the revision guide under NUS-CPU-03 and the 'CPU-NUS A' chip revision, but the problem is I have read conflicting info about overclocking and stability. Most people agree that early models dont overclock well, and the later ones do, but there appears to be some sort of cut-off point, as some people also say the later motherboards are really 'cheap' and unstable and dont overclock well at all, and no-one seems to mention which specific motherboard and CPU revisions they had success with
Its also surprising that they used an NUS-CPU(P)-01 and not an NUS-CPU(P)-02 motherboard as you would expect based on the serial number, perhaps Nintendo Europe re-cased old motherboards for all the Pikachu models?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for some info from me! I recently modded a US Limited Edition Gold N64 for a forum member on another forum, and was very surprised when I opened it and saw an NUS-CPU-09-1 motherboard This is the highest reported revision so far, and the serial number was NS302830466. Here are some pictures:-
The latest date on the chips suggest this was manufactured in week 46 of 2000, which means there is still about a year between this revision and the release of the GameCube which makes me wonder if there might be an NUS-CPU-10. I also wonder just how close Nintendo were to combining the CPU-NUS and RCP-NUS into one chip, like the later '1CHIP' SNES consoles (Obviously they combined them with the later iQue Player, but thats not really the same!)
I also came across an eBay auction for a boxed Nintendo refurbished N64 system, so here is a picture:-
This is likely where the 'NS9' consoles come from which feature old cases with new motherboards and have new 'NS9' serial numbers stickers placed over the original serial numbers.
Thanks cloyster I have added the NUS-CPU-07 back pictures to the guide.cloyster wrote:Extra pictures aren't a problem, just glad to help out.

Thats the highest US N64 serial number I have heard of! If you are ever able to open it please let me know what the motherboard revision is so I can add it to the listTeamXlink wrote:I can't open up the console, I don't have the bits, but I plan on making one this week.

Thank you, I have added your serial number to the list and its great to hear of another NUS-CPU-06 (Only the second one to be reported) If you still have it and can take pictures of the front and back of the motherboard it would be very much appreciated, as the current pictures of the NUS-CPU-06 have some areas cut off.budnespid wrote:NUS-CPU-06

Hmm, thats interesting, your serial number doesnt match with any of the others so im not sure where to place it Is this perhaps an Australian, Brazillian or Hong Kong N64?Egleu wrote:NUS-CPU-06

blaze3927 do you perhaps still have your NUS-CPU(P)-03-1 revision you took pictures off previously? I only ask as I have been looking carefully at the pictures and apart from the missing SMT components on the S-Video Luma and Chroma traces, it also looks like both signals might be connected directly to ground? If there is any chance you could check the continuity with a multimeter that would be greatLink83 wrote: NUS-CPU(P)-02 (1999) European/Australian
Notes:- This board seems to only be used in later PAL consoles with serials around NUP157***** onwards, many of which are coloured transparent 'Color Edition' models (Called the 'Funtastic Series' in the US) Its interesting to note that the LC125 quadruple buffer chip used on all other revisions are replaced by four discrete buffering components in new positions QA1-QA4.

Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
My PAL n64 serial number is nup14597615. Is it mean that it is first revision?
Re: Nintendo 64 Motherboard Revisions/Serials Info Request
Yes, its more than likely an NUS-CPU(P)-01 revision (The majority of PAL N64's use the first revision motherboard, so its pretty common) If you decide to open it up please let me know for sure which revision it is so I can add it to the listmetsys wrote:My PAL n64 serial number is nup14597615.
