Premodded Genesis 1? Factory repair?

I bought a Genesis the other day, and opened it up this morning to find these wires in it. Any idea what their purpsoe is?

just a guess, but it's either a regionmod or a video mod.

They look factory, because they are going through holes in the board, probably being soldered directly underneath. Mods almost never use pre-made holes on boards.

That's a factory thing done. Almost every Genesis Model 1 has those wires(except for very late Genesis Model 1s, which have motherboard revision VA7 - from what I can tell, your Genesis is a VA6 revision, the last revision of the Genesis Model 1 to make use of those wires). They're needed for RAM. Cut those, and the Genesis will not work anymore.
