Small question, would 12v burn the wires of a usb cord? The wires seem thin, and I don't wanna burn them up.

It depends on how many amps will be running through the wire. For that thickness, about 500mA should be ok.

i don't think a USB cord would be able to carry enough curent to safely power a DC.
Grandmasterjimmy wrote:Pretty much will be a DC in a PSOne case.

The case will need to be made a bit bigger, and probably thicker.

Anyway, I have it down to 1 1/2 inches thick rich now. I can probably get another 1/8th off of it too by trimming the legs from the gd-rom drive. And yes, the system still runs like this.

The controller port, which isn't pictures will go were the modem port and were the gdrom used to connect.

I'm going to get rid of the old connections on the back, and give it only an svideo and sound hookup. I'll be giving it a new PSU also.

it's not about voltage, it's about the amperage that is being pulled. USB cables are quite thin, and the USB limit is indeed 500mA, you might not want to use those.

since it's to late to take back the post might as well contribute.

what about using a DIN connector (The old style keyboard connector) Or mini DIN. From what I remember those wires were a much lower gauge than the 24/25 that USB uses.

no, this guy accidentally responded, not on purpose. plus he contributed somethig. The contribution probably was not needed, but he did not bump a thread to say "cool" or anything like that. So I'm cool with him

Well, since someone accidentally bumped this, I guess I can do an update.

I haven't really had the money, or time to work on this. I recently dropped out of highschool, and have no job, so stuff is a bit difficult for me right now. If I can manage to get a job I plan to continue this.

best bet is to get back into school and get your diploma or get your G.E.D. and hopefully your about to turn 18 as you cannot get your G.E.D until then if you choose that route. Its really tough to find a job without one or the other. Seen it happen to a friend of mine. But, I wish you best of luck in whichever route you choose.
