Retro Duo project! NEW PIC pg6! ALMOST DONE

Post by Triton » Tue Apr 22, 2008 11:06 pm

Ok! ive now officially started on journeyfanatics snesP but before i go posting anything interesting to look at i need some information!

Has anybody looked at cutting off the little power switch section of the board, what does that diode and resistor do next to the reset button there? is it just for filtering? if i remove the power switch and reset button will i have any problems do you think?

this portable will have a relocated cartslot, a very nifty (and secret) case, run on AAs, have a 2.5" lcd and the dimensions will be roughly 7" wide 5.5" tall and under 2" at the thickest point, these dimensions are estimations and subject to change without notice, consult your doctor for dosing information

bumpdate numero dos!

got the LCD today! IT IS TINY! the controller board is scarcely bigger than the lcd module (a sony one of all things, yay hong kong!) itsself!
Image
the board to the far left is the adjust board, it has contrast and brightness and the power switch on it, other than the lack of audio circuitry this lcd is pretty much perfect for a 2.5" lcd! the audio should still be pretty easy to do (a 741 op amp possibly)

i COULD post pics of the progress ive made on the case so far but im going to keep that under wraps to the forum at large for now, ive showed some people progress pics on IM and if they know whats good for em they wont post em! when i get the system done i will be posting all of em! needless to say its lookin pretty damn good so far and its only 7.25" wide!

things to figure out yet!:
the absolute final case design (it changes as i work on it!)
battery type and location
audio circuit
lcd powering (wont run on 5v :( possibly a boosting reg or something)

Nice work, I can't wait to see the finished product! It seems like everyday someone new comes and wants to commission a project like this. Who knows, maybe we can start making money and fund our hobbies.

The case looks very nice, only it doesn't look like there's space for batteries. True, or am I missing some spots where they can be hidden?
