Okay, I finally feel the need to step in. First of all, legibility when typing is your key to respect around here. Not only does it make you look more intelligent, but everyone who does gets a cookie and $10! Well, not really, but you get my point.
Second, common sense is your friend. When designing a case, make sure the components actually fit your design. That means take your screen, system mobo, batteries, etc. and measure each and every one of them. I find it helps if you make paper cutouts of the dimensions of each. From there, play around with certain configurations. Once you're sure you have a design that will actually work, start building a case around that.
Oh, and one of the unwritten laws of portablization... NEVER start with an N64, ESPECIALLY if you have absolutely no prior electronic experience, which, by the looks of it, you don't. Start off portablizing something simple, just so you can get soldering skills down, as well as basic principles of portable wiring. I recommend starting off with an NOAC. They're cheap, easy to wire, and have a large library of games, some even built right in. Use your knowledge of that to make a better portable in the future, working your way up to N64. But hey, it's your money, so if you wanna blow it all, go ahead and try making an N64p. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
