(lol it won't let me say "in t-e-h works". That's funny)

Well, it's been a month and a half since I started working on this and what do I have to show for it? That's right - not much :(

It's alright though, because next week I'll be free for summer! Yippee!

Anyway, here's the little bit of progress that I have achieved in sporadic bursts (whenever I had time on the weekends - you know the drill) since mid March.

Before primer (kinda ugly ain't it?):

And after primer :D (Much better!):

^Notice that this is practically an advertisement for Polycase.com since I've been to lazy to tackle that pesky sticker. I need me some Goo-Gone. That stuff works wonders.

Player 2 port:

Cartridge slot! It's a perfect fit.

^Why make things overly complicated when some hot glue will do? This isn't weight-bearing, so it's fine. It's the cartridge connector that I'll have to reinforce heavily. I'm still figuring that part out...

I know that's a lot of pics for 56Kers but I like to share :D

Up next: painting, batteries (li-ion of course!), and stuffing in all the guts. The screen's already LED modded and ready to go.

That's looking mighty fine. The L and R buttons are very well placed so I can imagine it will be very comfortable to play games like Mario Kart.

The whole case looks very Nintendo-ish, keep it up :)

1. Goo-gone is amazing it will remove practically anything works pretty good on removing permanent marker too.

2. Keep us updated on the cartridge slot I really interested and I sure others are too.

3. Keep on sharing :D lol

Indeed it is looking nice. SNES is a pain to choose a colour for, eh? Nothing goes well with purple that is good for an overall colour. I went with white, your two are grey and black :P I have a really nice colour scheme I can't use for mine. Dark grey and black. It would work well with yours. If you so desire:

It kind of gives away my shape. But not completely. I still have a big surprise for all you guys!

Cool, I started to build a portable just like this. Mine looks nowhere as good as yours (haven't finished soldering the parts together or even touched the case) I used all of the same parts except for an off-brand PSOne Screen that I'm afraid to LED mod.

SNESp Progress:
Have Screen fits perfectly, now to figure out how it works...
Motherboard (Fried) FC Twin & Mini SNES
Batteries 7.2V 2000mAh & 2x 9.6V 700mAh
Case ZN-40
Electronics came!

Long dead post, riiiiiise!

I come to you bearing pictures of beauty:

And here are some pictures of recent progress:

Image

Itty-bitty soldering! The red arrow indicates where I've since moved a couple of wires. Turns out that pin wasn't good for ground. Well, now I know.

Image

My index finger present to show just how small this is. (Ooo! Color coded wires, Brian? Getting quite fancy nowadays, aren't we?)

Image

I'll have a better "frontal" picture soon. This is just a mock up. A poor one.

Image

I know some of these pics are repeats from elsewhere, but I just wanted them all to be in one place. Part of the reason why this SNESp has taken so long is because I've obsessed over the paint job. I put some clear overcoat on to protect all my hard work, and it totally ruined the awesomeness. I just said screw it, sanded it down once again, added a couple of final light layers of paint and called it done. Now I can get to the FUN part - wiring it all up!

Oh, by the way, I'm popping in one of these for good measure. And it's going to run off of two 7.2 volt li-ion batteries in parallel. And I'm thinking about making it RGB, depending on if I can get it to work for me or not. Honestly it looks just fine with composite... Oh, and it's going to have video out and a headphone jack. Yup.
