Try, try again...

It's probably one of the following...

1) Busted track

2) Solder short

3) Wires too long

Solutions
======

1) Be sure to check ALL the tracks on the Radica for breaks - you wouldn't BELIEVE how crappy the mainboards on these mass produced 'el-cheapo' multi game devices are. :P

2) Check to make sure you haven't accidentally bridged or shorted anything - it's REALLY easy to do! :?

3) Wires should ideally be about the thickness of standard IDE cable (except GROUND wires, which should be thicker). They should have a MAX length of around four inches from the mainboard to the cart slot.

NOTE - you can NOT link to the cart slot via some veroboard, even if the cart slot is ON the veroboard. It just stops the Radica from working. :?

I've been wanting to get my hands on an SF2 Radica for a while to see how they added the second controller port (also to see if the design differs - which I suspect it does...)

If you are sick of trying to get it to work, you could always post it to me and let me do the work for you! 8)

(Mind you, I live in the U.K. though...)

Yep, the SF2 Radica has an extra controller port on it.

Are these getting hard to find now then? Guess my custom PCB might look a bit more attractive now then :D

Look here and register your interest:

I've not designed the PCB yet but I do have a stripped Radica board that'd be easy to put into CAD and modify for our needs.

Doesn't seem to be that popular so far though, I can only assume due to the Radica's inadequacies. :(

Comparing it to other "on-a-chip" devices, radica has pretty high compatibility.

Pretty cool considering that it wasn't even intended to have a cart slot. :D

Hello guys,

So sorry that this is my first post here. I have just been getting involved with the scene again.

I am located in the UK, and would love for someone to mod my radica with all of the available mods. Does anyone have any contacts in the UK?

I notice that Paul has lots of experience in this department, but he doesn't seem to have been to this site in a while.

I may try to PM him.

Does anyone know any other sites I may be able to get in contact with Paul?
Any assistance is very welcome with regards to the above mods!

Thanks guys!
