Pics of 1993 mobo catridge slot.

Post by Djsefnet » Thu Aug 10, 2006 5:12 am

i decided to skip usin a mini snes for my next SnesP and used a 1993 model i had been using for my home system. Havnt seen anyone post pics of the catridge slot that is removable on these mobos, and in fact i havnt seen this myself. I have only seen the mobos with the sound chip on a seperate addon and the mini board. I had heard about it being removagle on the older boards but thought this one wasnt when i looked at the bottom. I only noticed it was removable when i pluged a game in to test my connections and then removed the game with the connector on it. It gave me that split second of fast heartbeat fear that i had just ruined the whole thing then i relised what i had done hah. First 2 pics are with the connector off and second with the connector on. I will relocate the slot to the top of my new snesp and this might be easier than usin a snes mini and removing the slot with a solderin iron and brute force :)

BTW does anyone know what the little "pot" on the bottom of the mobo is? its labed TC1 and is red.

TC1 from my experience either controls something with the video or with the clockspeed. try spinning it while a game is in. You'll noticed that the colors will change from inverted to black and white to screwed up sprites. it's nothing worth messing with though.

Does the removable portion of the connector look like it would be easy to solder to? They sell just that part on ebay for a few bucks.

The connector that came off the mobo is not like the ones they sell on ebay. i have goten a couple of them and they are the opposite realy. The real deal has no pins and the aftermarket ones have the pins ready for soldering.

I have the silver one...it works fine, just a TAD bigger than the mini slot. Nothing bad really...as for the other one, it looks like the pins ARE there...just bent in. IDK...you are okay using the silver one though. Same amount of pins...works just fine.

I actually already ordered an ebay connector, and got it today. It looks solid enough.

You know i had a SNES with a smashed case back in the early 90s, and i seem to remember it having this same removable connector. Mine also has the sound processor in a seperate removable module.
