If you trip the fuses in the power supply, unplug it, wait 5mins, smack it good, and you're set

Tried your 3 steps after re-flowing the board. I don't know which one fixed it, but it works now! Thanks!

Tried a few days later, same problem. The 3 steps alone didn't work. Reflowed it again last night, and did the 3 steps just now, and it worked. I should also mention that it was unmodded the first time I tried this.

Does anybody know a fix for an N64 that turns on but gives zero signal to the TV. Not a flash or anything. The red LED turns on but that is the extent of it working. I opened it up and found green stuff oozing from one of the chips and the power switch has white and green stuff crusted around under it and leaked through the other side onto the metal plate. I picked this N64 up at a church sale and it was broken from the time i got it. Anybody know a fix for this or if it is possible at all. I searched for a fix but only found other people with the same problem but no solution. If you can help me out it would be much appreciated. :)

Maybe the cart or expansion slot is dead, and the junk is spillage or something.

That green stuff sounds like corrosion... Find something to clean it off with.

A few weeks ago I was testing some 'broken' controllers that turned out to be fully functional but their cords had twisted and broken the power/data/ground wires inside. it turned out to be great for me since I'm making wireless controllers and now i dont have to rip apart any of my working controllers 8) . so anyway i simply chopped the cord and stripped it a bit and twisted the ends back together to make a working controller with a shorter cord... and exposed data & power & ground... which i let touch each other since i wasn't paying attention due to the delight of having magically repaired my lost controller.
here's what happened in the 1-2 seconds they touched:
random movements from joystick
LED flickered and went out, along with the picture
Me turning off the system and an immediate sense of dread

i turned the power switch on again but nothing happened, LED didnt even light up. i figured it was dead, but luckily this was not the case. i waited an hour or so after unplugging everything, then removed the expansion pack and turned it on for 10 sec. after that i plugged everything back in, put in a game, and everything worked!
its been working just fine ever sense so i dont think i did any damage, but I had no idea it was possible to (nearly) kill the system out from the controller port.
has anyone done something similar to this? any lasting damages?
