you need a modchip for games on a normal disk. I am sure there are blank psone disks to buy however.

You might be sure, but incorrect. You can play backup games using a PS-X-Change disc, or you can mod it. There are no discs out there that are blank PlayStation CD-Rs. The PlayStation uses a TOC checksum to verify that it's a real PlayStation disc, and that can't be fudged until you know what your TOC is (i.e., after you wrote the disc). No consumer drive can write the PlayStation disc, because it is read as a bad disc (and the burning software would say the burn failed).

Just throw a mod chip in it, they are only like $15 and are pretty easy to install.

there was a predacessor to the ps2 swap magic that used the ex. port on the back of the original grey ps's They had many names like "Goldfinger" or "Dragon Hacker" but all you needed was one original psone game and your backups

It also required a spring to hold the lid safety switch

But i dunno if the psone even had an ex. slot :?

I use a disc called Breaker Pro which works on both PS2 and PSOne for playing PSone backups. I just use a slide tool for opening my PS2 disc tray.
