broken superjoy???

Post by FALSE » Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:36 pm

I've got the insides of a superjoy that at one time was working off of a 7.4v battery.
Left it sitting around in the "to do" pile for a year or so and now I cant get it to work.
I give it power and I get either a solid color screen (blue, white, grey, etc.) or a screen with a seemingly random pattern.
The pattern doesn't show any signs of being related to any game graphics.

Is this a dead unit or is there hope???
Thanks

*edit*
I've tried powering with batteries that I know are good...
Tried 7 volts, 9 volts, and 12 volts and get the same results with all of them.

Have you tried resetting the cart at all? The cart slot may need a good cleaning...

Yea, tried putting the cart in every which way.
It does the same when trying to use the built in games.

Hm. Well, the only other thing I can think of is the board's video amp may be bad. Unfortunately, I have idea where you would find it or what all it'd consist of on the SJ board.

Superjoy's quality is complete garbage. I had one that somehow broke just by removing the case.

You guys dont think the fact that the famicon controller port broke off would make the superjoy not work do you???

It's possible the breaking could've shorted the power with ground...tho if that were the case it shouldn't be powering on at all. Hm. Well, you should check the leads anyway to make sure none of them connect to each other just the same.
