NES 72 pin replacement problems

Post by electromaster64 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 7:53 am

I replaced the cart connector on my blinking NES, it would occasionally work so I know it was fine. Then I replaced the connector yesterday and now it nolonger blinks but I am not getting a picture using the RF or component out. Are there any common issues that I could troubleshoot?

So I rebent the pins on the original connector and get nothing. However with the new connector I occasionally get a picture it is just really distorted. Any thoughts?

Your new connector might not have been a good one. Make sure none of the pins on the new one got pushed back (should be obvious). Also, see if the game works better if you don't push it down. If the new connector is bad, most ebay sellers offer some warranty on them if that's where you got it from.

Figured it out. I was testing using the RF on an old TV and apparently the RF out is broken. I tested the RF switch on my Master System and it works fine so the RF in the NES is down. I cut the 4th pin on the 10NES chip and now everything works like new. I broke the pin and was not able to ground it so hopefully that is not bad.
