Homebrew 2600 pcb help

Post by aadz93 » Mon Jun 27, 2011 1:15 pm

Hi everybody Im trying to make a portable 2600 out of a 2600 jr and want to know if someone can design a template so that i can etch a pcb of my own. this is the only part that confuses me because i tried to build a 2600 from scratch but i dont know how to wire the pins in what order. so if anybody that knows the 2600 in and out and knows how to design pcb's please reply. Im not asking to etch it for me just to design it and i can etch it ( It has to be that kind of special etching that you can print it out on some sort of special sheet and put it on a special board and leave it in the sun and it puts the printout on the copper board and then you put it in a chemical to etch away all the unmarked copper and leave the traces [this what my dad told me im just trying to remember what he said])

ps: I know someone has already done this but he has not replied to my email yet so if you know what im trying to say please help.
pps: Im only 14 but I know some stuff with electronics and a lot about vintage games.

edit: if no one knows how to build a pcb can they tell me how to wire the chips and components up ( on a breadboard or something )

I think Gannon made one years back.
*searches*
Yeah, he did make a prototype pcb, but I don't know if it went anywhere. You could PM him, I think he still comes around every so often.

Rekarp was working on a slimmed down PCB. Might be worth firing off a PM to him. I seem to recall he'd actually had a board printed that he wired up and tested.

Ok lemme simplify it just need a simplified atari 2600 ntsc schematic or a redesigned version that i could etch onto a board myself so that i could build a portable.

ps: could i just take a breadboard and just hook up all the pins to their necessary places and get it to work?
