Is this possible?
Moderator:Moderators
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if it was possible to finish a Portable NES in 5 days, since I'm off work and school for next week.
And I mean is it possible to do it WITHOUT half-assing. A quality project, work on it hours each day.
Few cans of Monster and bottles of NOS energy drink should help.
Oh and without the case, I just mean all wiring. I know it varies but in general.

Uh.
Depends what you've already got on hand.
If you've already got everything, and you're actually, ya know, patient and put serious time into it..
Uh, yeah, you could do it in 5 days.

Re: Is this possible?
highly possible if you have had everything preplanned. Such as case design, screen implementation, power source supply and having the proper tools needed handy.... i would say so.
on the other hand, if you know nothing about what you are doing you could seriously injure yourself or even damage the nes to a non-playable state. Just make sure you have taken the needed precautions and are ready to tackle a portable project. Cuz without the proper planning you could be in for a bumpy ride.

Yes, but not for you. I only say this because if you had to ask you can't do it; if you could do it you would have just told us you were going to do it.

Re: Is this possible?
Thanks guys, I also have a question.
People have been saying NOT to use screens made by Intec, anyone know why?
I just found a 7" Wii Intec screen, and was wondering if that was okay, it seems to have a nice display.
Thanks again for the comments.
And yeah, this is my first portable, I don't know what I'm going to do about the case but meh.
I have everything (picking up the NES today rofl)

Yeah, a relative of mine had one, it was sort of shifty. So I should 100% AVOID them?

Meh. I don't know, I'm using one, for as cheap as I found one, I think the quality is fine. Got one for $10, $40 cheaper than the ps1 screen.Vort wrote:nevermind1534 wrote:They're terrible. Could you post an image or video?
I believe you, but I want to see it in action. I have seen one for the GameCube, it wasn't too bad, little shifty but heh.
I hate waiting for parts to come in is all.

Re: Is this possible?
Sorry, you won't be getting one from me, because I don't know where mine is right now. But it looked all washed out and unevenly lit.Vort wrote:Yeah? Alright then.mikeyg wrote:Meh. Re: Is this possible?
A NES or Atari portable might not look much worse on an Intec screen especially if you're using a NOAC but you don't want to use one on a 16 bit or better portable.
Life is like a box of chocolates. It sucks unless you spend a lot of money.

Washed out colors and a blurred image are washed out colors and a blurred image, no matter what console you use. I wouldn't use one for any console.KevinLG wrote:A NES or Atari portable might not look much worse on an Intec screen especially if you're using a NOAC but you don't want to use one on a 16 bit or better portable.

Re: Is this possible?
intec makes the crappiest screens around just aviod and don't waste your money.
rest in peace, Ronnie James Dio! \m/
Re: Is this possible?
(bought the intec screen w/o realizing how crappy they were) Yeah... dont even bother; i paid 40 for it... $10 more is worth it especially for the size and quality difference. I will find a use for it one day... but for now its a test screen or im really bored screen.
