UPDATE ACTION!!!!!!

Yes, I know i'm late on the update....so I have 2 days worth of work to update...

Well, not so much 2 days as more like 6-8 hours

First off, to answer .:jads:. question: The screen I'm using is nothing more than a regular PS1 screen, LED modded of course tho.

Now onto my progress!

Image
My original plan for the corners...which failed, lol.

Image
My new plan for corners...much easier to make, and more stable too!

Image
The Middle base plate with the new corner ideas placed at each corner. SO far, these corners are working :)

Image
My Good friend Mr. Dremel...this one even has a long-range attachment! (which is why it's hangning from my drill press)

Image
The final shot of the parts before I commenced to the cutting

Image
An action shot of me cutting the hole in the mid plate.

Image
Here's a shot of the mid plate after It had the hole removed, and filed.

Image
The Front Plate with Controller hole cut out, but not yet filed

Image
Front plate, with Controller hole cut out and filed to perfection.

Image
Front plate with both the screen and controller holes cut and filed.

Image
A quick pic with the controller sitting in its hole, and the screen placed behind the plate....

Image
The rear plate with the battery cover hole made

Image
A picture of all 3 main plates sitting...this is their blue side.
The blue sides turned out pretty haggard on each peice...I think I might just use the white sides, and paint it a cool color.

And Last but not least!!!
The coolest part of this project...my little buddy...

Image

My mummified mouse! Found this little critter buried inside the front seat of the car seen behind my bandsaw on page 1...perfectly preseved by natural means! Just thought I'd share it with you guys :D (and gals, if any ;) )

you should keep the mouse. I have some old humming birds somewhere. One was trapped and mummified insde the bumper of my family's 1974 mercury. Another one got trapped in our hot pole barn one summer day and died.

A Quick update:

I've got the controller hard-wired into the main board now, and I also have the board perminently set to "on" now...just gotta deal with that cart connector now....

Image
Yes, I know those connections look haggard....but rest assured, there is a reason for that...I'll probably be throwing some hot glue over the top of those connections too, just to make sure they hold in :)
Image
Dunno if I'm gonna attach a player 2 port or not yet. We'll see............

I have the same yobo (color and all) that I'm trying to mangle together before MGC so I have a couple of questions if you have time to help me out here with noob questions haha

Seems like you eliminated the need for the controller port board (that has the 2 ports and the start and reset switch). Do you have a more clear picture of which wire you put where to wire the controller straight to it (or alternatively, a pinout if it's different from any other of the clones). If you were to add the player 2 port, how exactly would that work?

figure i'd know all this stuff since i signed up on the second day of the sites existance but I've never gotten around to try and build anything :P

Here's a quick look at how i wired the controller right into the board....I haven't traced it for player 2 as of yet...I'll get to that during the weekend.

It's funny tho, there's 7 plugs on the NES plug, but yet, only 5 of them are used! There are no wires, nor any type of connectivity with any of the other wires for those 2 ports!

No light gun support? Aww....

Then again, are light guns even usable with an LCD screen? It would be fun to make one with an IR LED/sensor/however it works and build it into a pen to point at the screen.

Edit: Actually, just googled it and no, light guns don't work with LCD screens. Darn.

I think the other 2 pins are also used for the arkanoid controller.

Oh, and what type of plastic are you using for the case?
