finding a 60-72 pin in gyomite?

Post by duke2k7 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 12:03 pm

guys, just a quick one...

just managed to get a 5-screw version of gyromite, and its got both gold stamps on it, but there was a 72pin board in there, not a converted one...

has someone swapped it over then resold it on?

i though all early, 5-screw gyromites had them in......

???

duke2k7 - Post the pics you did on my forum of the board - the benefit of your converter is that is doesn't need the processor - just simple rewiring.

processor or ic, it doesnt have one, and that is definitely a uk cartridge in the fmicom slot. the centre set of pins arent wired in on the board.

that's true, but you're also testing this on a superjoy. I don't think uk carts would work on a famicom. US carts might, which would not explain the lockout chip. But yeah, it's not news that you can directly change the wiring for an adaptor

edit: actually, wait. The reason may be that you have a nes to famicom adaptor, and not vice versa. I do not believe that the famicom (like the nes2) had a lockout chip at all. the adaptor found in gyromite is famicom to nes, and since famicom carts don't have a lockout chip (just like the famicom), the adaptor needs one.

end of the mistery

if you were looking for a family converter to play nes games on a famicom, the converter in the gyromite cart is not what you were wanting anyway. the gyromite converter lets you play famicom on an nes.

anyway, thanks for the link and pics!
