Family Converter Troubles
Post
by Kurt_ » Thu Oct 11, 2007 2:21 pm
I got my family converter today. And it's wiggly on the NES card edge connector part. It is rather bad. It causes the game to freeze unless it's in a certain position.
Are they all like this? Did I get a bad one? Fixes?
Hey, sup?

try using a pin to put the pin's "tighter" this also works for "normal" cart connectors don't worry.

They're already insanely tight. After putting 3-5 carts in my hands started to hurt. But still, it wiggles a lot, and when it wiggles, it crashes.

Yep all family convertors are like that cause they do not have a case to keep them stable.
Try using one in a gamaxe
you move a tiny bit and it freezes.

So do I. Force it into the working position then stabilize it with screws.

Elaborate?
You mean with a cartridge inserted, jam everything up to the side as far as it will go, then go crazy securing it into place with whatever I got?

Well you have to get excited first...
Did you mean on my latest one? Because it came with a casing, and it makes it much more stable than just the connector alone. My other ones also had a place for the cartridge to rest on plastic casing. Just add some plastic along the sides to meet with the casing of the cartridge, and it will hold it still.

Do what I'm doing; take the famicom connector, and desolder it off. Then, use a VERY ACCURATE SAW THING or KNIFE and cut it right in half at the 15th pin. If done properly, you should have two 30 pin halves. When put on the left and right edges of a NES cart, the only missing 12 pins don't matter, as they are expansion port pins
It's like the floppy solution, but with the perfect pitch and size.
