I wouldn't use a real toaster. Instead make a toaster-like box that's made out of plastic and in the same color scheme as the NES. Like what your pixel rendering looks like.

I think that's adding more work than necessary. It might be pretty hard to put together plastic in a convincing enough way to make it look like a real toaster. Besides, the whole coolness factor is that it's one heck of a case mod. That's what makes the idea awesome.

It doesn't need to be convincing, just simular. Something like the pixel rendering would be cool. Toaster gut replacements have been done to death already. Embedded platforms at first, then PCs, and lately a PS2 (4 slot toaster) have already replaced toaster guts. You might as well paint the NES black and replace the LED with a blue one, IMO, if you're going to do something so over done.

Up to the modder I suppose.

Idea: Take the guts from the toaster, put some heat shields in the NES case, and turn it into a toaster when your finished your toaster NES.

Just make sure nobody puts toast in your nes!

Wait - I meant bread...bread goes in, toast comes out...I'm going insane...

That's a great idea. I'd do it but I use my toaster for toast.

wow.
You can buy toasters on ebay.
its taking over

Anyways, maybe, and i know this is probably a really dumb idea, make one slot run games, and the other cook toast!
or bread
or the occasional donut

i have thought of that too, but the heat would certainly be a problem.

but it would be totally awesome to play games and toast toast at the same time, with the same device, wouldn't it?
