An oldschool RPG

Post by nitro2k01 » Tue Dec 19, 2006 9:01 pm

I have some Gameboy code lying around for a simple map engine, and I'm considering taking up work on it again. The goal is an RPG with fight scenes for Gameboy. I don't have much more plans than that right.
But if I'm going to take up the work on it again, I'd need ideas, and probably support from people with experience in story-writing and 4 color graphics.
If you're the least interested, or have ideas, please drop a note in this thread!

Well, I haven't yet decided if I should start with it yet. I'm open to all ideas. If you feel like it, post your ideas in this thread, or pm me if you're paranoid.

Dester Island? Like "Lost"? Or a Kingdom Hearts style game with video game characters.

(the Texas thing was a joke, but it still might be a good idea)
Zombie Apocalypse(i think this is the best idea yet)
Zombie Apocalypse RPG, it could be like Urban Dead... (http://www.urbandead.com/)
problem is how do you make it single player.... (homemade nine link cable adapter? and each player would have to have their own cartridge with their player info.
I just don't like the steampunk idea that much.

how are you going to connect when the gameboy cord for linking is only two way? what about he four player adapter? how would that connect up?

Also, he said four colors, that means GB, which means your zombie apocolypse would be awful bland...

Wait a minute, what's this nine player thing about? If I finish this thing, most people will probably play it on an emulator anyway, so the maximum number of players will probably be four, if there are any emulators that can emulate that.
Zombie apocalypse: That sounds more like an action game than an RPG. I'm pnot much into zombies. I was planning more of a classic style RPG.
Desert Island: Sounds good (It could be deserted as well as having desert parts)
Josh, other people: You have any ideas for a map?
