Xbox 360 advice please

Post by ILoveLizards » Sun Jul 17, 2011 3:42 am

I decided screw it I'm skipping making a portable NES. I hate the NES. I want to make a portable Xbox 360 and would like someone to post step by step instructions of how to safely get that thing apart without tripping its safeguards. thanks :?:

You've never heard about the dreaded RROD? That thing comes programmed in so if modders try to mod their Xbox360 it breaks itself.

BWAHAHAHA OMG THIS IS THE BEST TOPIC. Thats going in my signature...

But seriously. The RRoD is just when the 360 detects a hardware fault.
95% of the time. No wait. 100% of the time, it is because of a lifted BGA pad. This is because of Microsoft's TERRIBLE air circulation and heat output design. They also do not use leaded solder. Hence, lead free requires some flux to keep it from cracking, which they skipped out on because there so freaking cheep!

Same with the PS3. Except, that has a much better air flow design.

Lead-free solder is used not because it's cheaper (which it's not), but because of RoHS compliance.

And because of that... It is just annoying though.

However, I think it could have been avoided if they used a socket setup like in computers (EG: LGA-775 style) as the BGA system is not good for products that produce a huge amount of heat!

Actually, maybe it was all a test...
Have you even seen a BGA IC soldered to the board that produces that much heat?

We will tell from the next generation consoles. If they use BGA, then it was not. If they do not use BGA, then they now know...
