I have just detached the ring of light port from the motherboard, and when I rewire it up, none of the LEDs light up. Has anyone else had this problem or am I stuck troubleshooting this on my own? Any insight would be helpful!

Re: Ring of Light Problems
do you removed the RoL port off the motherboard and rewired it, now none of the LEDs work?
check for shorts around your wiring.
only time this has ever happened to me was when i was messing with the crystal on the pcb.

Re: Ring of Light Problems
I don't visually see any shorts. I've taken all the wires off, cleaned and resoldered, but still same thing. I've tried with another RoL and get the same result. Is there a way to test the little ports themselves? Am I missing something? I am every other port already taken off the board. Thanks for your help!

Are you making sure you hooked up the right pads. There are 3 +red +green -both. You must hook led to +green and -ground.
That's Hacking Awsome

Re: Ring of Light Problems
i think he is talking about the port itself, not the SMDs
is this what your trying to do?

Re: Ring of Light Problems
Yes Huma, I'm not trying to change to RoL board at all. I took the port off the board and extended it. I'll post pictures shortly. I think I ruined the board as there is some solder melted to the board that I can't get off bridging two ground holes. I can still get the unit to power on, just the LED's won't work.
