360 usb drive support

Post by manuba » Thu Apr 08, 2010 2:41 pm

So did anyone notice the console update this week? It adds usb drive support so that you can use a usb stick to save your games............Well now I don't need to buy a new 250gb hdd because I am now using a Tb hdd in the rear usb port!!!!!! And it works smooth so far ,Thanx Microsoft, $129.99 for a 250Gb or $200 for a nice 1Tb usb!!!!!!! Or you can take Ben's idea and use the transfer cable from your 120Gb hdd and use it to connect a SATA drive to your usb port... Either way you have faster load time compared to an official 360 hdd.

I've actually have been trying this with different media on a usb 250gb hdd for 2yrs and mp3,mp4 and avi files play from a drive if you are connected to xboxlive

Actually, you can only use 16GB max per drive. With MS's formatting you only get to use a bit over 14GB. So people may still find a use for that 250GB Xbox 360 hard drive they sell.

Where do you buy $200 1TB drives? There are 1.5TB drives for $130.
You can't hook up any drive with the transfer kit, either-its a proprietary connector.
And SATA is waaay faster than the USB that's on the Xbox.

You're a modder?? You say you can't use the transfer cable to hook up ANY drive.......You're no modder.
And you get the drive you pay for dude, 1tb is a lot of data to chance on a crappy cheap drive.

You call yourself a gamer and modder? I'm surprised you didn't know that.

Someone has got to try because too many people say "You can't do that" before even just plugging things in.
Until Psp update 3.20 some Umds would play through my 360 usb port and everyone said that was impossible but they never even tried.

Never called myself a gamer but have been one since 1983. And down to try anything with a game console.

I suppose now you can. Before you couldn't. Max of 16GBs though.

it might have been a 2.9 update I don't really know since I missed 2 updates but some UMD movies without region code, put auto usb connection on and UMD cache on and it was old as hell firmware, many updates ago sony fixed the "access glitch". And it wont work anymore so it doesn't matter anyway.

Wait-so you played UMD's on your psp through your Xbox? I'm confused.

Yeah, I was making a point that you didn't get. Just stop saying that kinda stuff to other people. It makes you sound dumb.
