Wow, you must have been really crankin' on the screen in order to actually break one of the backlights. We torqued on some of our screens pretty stupidly hard due to frustration at times yet never managed to break a bulb. Always turned out to be those damned wires. Like collinE said, stay away from those things. They're the bane of the LCD, or at least the 1775W Gateway model. If you have your heart set on extending them, it would behoove you to learn from our experiences. It will spare you from many woes, that I promise.
Re: portable 360 power problems
what happened with the backlight was i accadently pulled one of the wires off. as i was trying to get it back on i pulled the light a little to much and it broke. but i found a great place to order one. http://www.ccflwarehouse.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; i ordered the wrong one so have to wait for my exchange, should be here in the next couple days. but i think i have things figured out and shld be done befor too long. want to thank every one for the tips and advise and will post some pics when it's done.

The pictures are kinda small. Do you have any bigger ones?
And you can upload them to imageshack. Saves this site some bandwidth.

Does the monitor we use for a laptop have to be a certain volt?
Re: portable 360 power problems
just shortened the wires back up and still nothing. hopen to figure some thing out soon. guess i have time because i can't afford to buy another screen for a while. dont want to have to put this on hold again. i'm open to ideas as long as i dont have to cut the wires again, they are getn kinda short.

Re: portable 360 power problems
Is the image on the screen visible if you use a flashlight? Are the extended backlight wires coming into contact with each other? The back of the monitor casing?
Re: portable 360 power problems
i can see the image on the screen. wires are shortened and not touching anything.

Re: portable 360 power problems
Is there any possibility that you may have extended the backlight wires incorrectly? For instance white to pink instead of white to white?
Re: portable 360 power problems
don't think so. did my best to make sure every think was right so i wouldn't be having problems like i am. tried to find a replacement board but no luck. may just have to wait for a new screen. sucks because i'm sooooo close to haven it done
