Wow, you must have been really crankin' on the screen in order to actually break one of the backlights. We torqued on some of our screens pretty stupidly hard due to frustration at times yet never managed to break a bulb. Always turned out to be those damned wires. Like collinE said, stay away from those things. They're the bane of the LCD, or at least the 1775W Gateway model. If you have your heart set on extending them, it would behoove you to learn from our experiences. It will spare you from many woes, that I promise.

The pictures are kinda small. Do you have any bigger ones?
And you can upload them to imageshack. Saves this site some bandwidth.

Does the monitor we use for a laptop have to be a certain volt?

just shortened the wires back up and still nothing. hopen to figure some thing out soon. guess i have time because i can't afford to buy another screen for a while. dont want to have to put this on hold again. i'm open to ideas as long as i dont have to cut the wires again, they are getn kinda short.

Is the image on the screen visible if you use a flashlight? Are the extended backlight wires coming into contact with each other? The back of the monitor casing?

Is there any possibility that you may have extended the backlight wires incorrectly? For instance white to pink instead of white to white?
