collinE's 360 lappy almost done (pics)

It's not a hundred percent finished, but it works. I just have to solve a problem I'm having with the screen in this thread: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=35445" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's not a serious problem, but its annoying. Should be completely done in a day or two. I just took a couple of quick pics with my phone and will have some quality ones when I'm done and put it in the news section. Video as well.

That looks amazing. How did you do the case?
Re: collinE's 360 lappy almost done (pics)
Nice job, looking very good, but where are the air holes, or are they just hidden or is your system good enough to not need it??
Re: collinE's 360 lappy almost done (pics)
I did the case with expanded PVC foam like Ben does in his cases. I couldn't find a machinist to do it for cheap so I just cut the pieces out and put them together. The air holes are harder to see since case is black on the sides and the pictures are so crappy. Right above the USB ports and memory card slots in the front are four or five rows of small holes. The back has larger holes next to the loose wiring. I played for a few hours and it stays cool enough. I was worried I'd need more.

So the case is foam instead of metal or hard plastic?

Technically it's foam, but it behaves as plastic does generally. It's not like foamcore from the store or anything like that, it's plastic pretty much as it's pvc.
This is assuming he's talking about sintra........
Great job collin.

Do i have to make a case and then dump the foam into it to hardena and then apply the finishing touches?

This foam you're speaking of, the sintra, comes as a sheet. Just like normal plastic.
Re: collinE's 360 lappy almost done (pics)
Then would i heat it up to bend it or just cut it and then bondo the corners?? Im lost of this sorry

It is very good for thermoforming (NOT vacuum forming) but I wouldn't recommend it for a laptop case, just cut it and use bondo or another filler of that sort to get rid of any problem areas and round off the corners a bit.

Im not gonna do a laptop, but for a Xbox 360 case, so i would heat it up to bend it, this so called thermowraping?

Lol hail.
You can try it if you like, bob, but I wouldn't bother if I was you. If you want curves, go for cnc or vacuum forming.
