Xbox 360 power supply information

Post by Hifeno » Mon Sep 28, 2009 9:39 pm

All Xbox 360 power supply's will work with all xbox 360's. The only thing stopping some newer ones is a plastic tab in the middle of power slot on 360. Break it off and wallah it works with all supply's. I just bought a new 360 with jasper board and 175 watt supply and it works on my old xenon 360 and vice versa no problems at all. And it did not even have that plastic pin like my buddies did and his is a jasper too. It still outputs same voltages just uses less watts.

xenon = 203watt psu
falcon = 175watt psu
jasper = 145watt psu

using a xenon one when breaking the tabs should power a falcon and a jasper, and the same goes for the falcon one, but it shouldnt power the xenon fully, couldn't that damage something if it draws power whilst gaming and fry something

If there are three models of 360 that use each of thos three supplies and how many watts each of them draws is relative to the PSU they use, I wouldn't use a Jasper PSU with a Xenon 360.

It tells you that using a PSU rated for more than something needs is perfectly fine. The lower wattage PSUs may power the older 360s, but it could make the PSU fail sooner than it should. In a pinch, it should be ok to use a lower wattage PSU, but I wouldn't recommend doing it for extended periods of time (like several weeks) or with lots of accessories plugged in.

Are you sure? :shock:
if this is true, then i dont have to buy an origonal release model xbox 360 power cord to run a origonal release model xbox 360?
I fixed an old Xbox using the "penny fix" on the bottom chips and the only power cable i had to test it was at my friends house. can you post a vid or pic?

Yes I had a jasper or falcon and I needed to use it on a xenon. I broke the middle plastic piece off and whala! It worked fine! My xbox power up with no problems. So I believe you can use the brick power supply design for a jasper or falcon with the xenon power adapter which says it uses 203 w while the falcon uses 175w and the jasper 150w. I posted my reply to let others know it still works in 2011 since the other post was dated back in 2009. Thanks Lawrence
