First Ever ZN-45 WII PORTABLE!!!!........Worklog!

Post by andrewdorsey » Sun Aug 09, 2009 2:45 pm

So anyways, yeah, I am making a portable wii. It will all be housed in a zn45 case. Yes I am the one who failed miserably on my gamecube portable, BUT my skills have inproved and the wii is much easier to portablize!

What I need:
Gamecube controller
6800MAH battery

What I have:
Wii
ZN-45 Case
ps1 screen

MY skills have improved so I am cofident that this project will get finished.

Good luck.
A truly wise man can entertain a thought without accepting it. A fool cannot withhold past judgments but instead closes his mine to new possibilities. Someone who wants to innovate simply needs to forget what everyone says isn't possible.

Update:

I got my ps1 screen to work with one of my screen boards! Apparently when I attempted to cut my ps1 screen board, I cut of part of the ground. So I just reconnected it and now all I have to do is LED mod the ps1 screen.

Is everything plugged in? The wii will not boot if certain parts are missing.

And I have checked, making a wii portable in a ZN40 case is possible, but you will need to cut down the side with the gamecube ports so far that you will lose most of the related circuitry. Useful for a small portable, but not if you want to play GC games/use a GC controller.

well, all of the sudden, it decided to start to work! So any way, I know palmertech. I have already trimmed the board a little bit. I trimmed the oposite side of where the gamecube controller ports are, you know that gold part. I only trimmed a little bit so the board would fit in the case, AND IT DOES!!! I have also foud a battery that I am going to save up for. Its 12 volts and 6800MAH. I also have white LED's coming in the mail so I can mod my screen.

How much of the other side? Any pics?

I did not cut it very far on mine because I knew there were some hidden traces, but I suppose they may be farther off!

So far so good! I like your work. However, something caught my eye:

What, does the Wii draw less power? Or is it simply the Disk Drive, because the motherboard in the gamecube is smaller, and the Disk Drive can be made smaller.

I am going to have a built in controller and a second player port and thats it, no 3rd or 4th player.

I am also going to have a built in memeory card.

MORE PICS!!!

NOW THE MOTHERBOARD FITS COMPLETLEY INSIDE THE CASE!!!

I think I also might replace the heatsing and also add another fan so I wont have any chance of it overheating.

64M320N3: That is just my opinion and also the gamecube disk drive is so thick, much thicker than the wii disk drive. Also the gamecube disk drive is so big. Plus, the disk drive on the wii is already basically relocated, and the gamecube disk drive is such a hassle to relocate.

turn the disc drive 90°, integrate it, and have it eject a disc out the side of the case
if it wont fit inside, then just turn it 90°

Well I have some bad news. The wii wont turn on anymore. When I plug it in, the red light comes on and then when I press the power button, it only turns on for a second and then shuts off. I don't know what to do.

Any help?
