Im Building A Xbox 360 Laptop

Post by thehaksharif » Thu Jul 16, 2009 1:52 pm

Hi Everyone..

I have just joined the forum, however i have been around on here for AGESSS..

and i have made my mind up about making a 360 Laptop in the UK..

Now everyone else i see here has attemped it in the USA..

but i am going to do it in the UK even though it will be harder..

Firstly.. I have went to game today and bought a new 360... Replaced the LiteOn Drive with a MS28 (Changed drive key and everyfin)
Secondly... i Have X-Clamped it..

Now before i desolder anything.. i just want to know how im going to make the case it goes in..
Now i know its gonna be tight for space but im still going to do it..

I Possibly want the design that ben has on his..
so if anyone can give me help and advice on how to make the case then plzz do

ALSO PLEASE DO NOT SAY.. ( THIS IS THE HARDEST PRJECT EVER blabla ) I AINT NO NOOB..

I Did a electronics Course and was Certificated for it.. So i know how to ADVANCELY Solder and Desolder etcetc..

A degree does not magically make a person competent. Regardless of your soldering abilities, it's worthless if you don't know what you're soldering things for.

That, and it's a little difficult to believe someone who says they have skill when they type like.. that.
what is this i don't even

Yeah, i typed like that because everyone else on this forum who asks for advice with a 360 laptop... people start saying.. "its the hardest project you will ever do and its impossible, you have to be this and that"

Thats why i had to type like that..
And anyway you didnt answer my question..

Thanks Anyway Tho =)

Well, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Most people use a fairly large briefcase, because it looks nice shut, you can get them in a bunch of sizes, and takes less effort then starting from scratch. Also, why would it be harder in the UK then here in the US of A?

Also, please use correct grammar, it's incredibly annoying. What made you type like that? That sentence (if it's a sentence, I can't really tell) makes no sense. If you actually have been around here for "AGESS.." then you'll know that that will in itself separate you from a lot of noobs. ".." is not a comma, and what does everyfin mean? That can't possibly be a typo. Just take the minute or so to fix your grammar instead of having the first few replies just telling you to spell better.

Thanks for the reply lol

I do like the idea about the Briefcase although, i would like it to look a lot like ben's 360 Laptop

I followed his tutorial and now i download the Adobe Illustrator File.
However i dont see anything that i can do to them designs to get it made

i meant harder in the UK Because of the fact all you guys can just say "go get that part from radioshack" and there is no radioshack in UK lol

I'm sure there's an equivalent to radioshack where you live. :D Anyway, to get that design made, you're going to need to find a CNC machine. If you don't know what that is or how to use it, google is your friend. Just go with a briefcase though. It's cheap and easy.

I like how I'm giving you advice even though I've never attempted this. :D

im thinking of doing it in the briefcase although i would prefer ditching that idea.

A CNC Machine, now that will be hard to find
The best i have found is Aluminium CNC Machining and Plastic Fabrications..

can i use bens Adobe Illustrator file and ask them to produce that case and send it me, because thats how it works in the UK, well thats what they say to do...!

You could, except that Ben is really good at minimizing the amount of space he needs to make it all fit. With most portables, especially one as complex as this, you'd be better off getting the thing all squared away before you even think about a case - otherwise, you may be stuck with an expensively-machined enclosure that you can't even use.

Yeah, Ben's really good at making big things fit in small spaces. I doubt you're going to be able to get everything as small as he did. Just use a briefcase. It working and fitting is more important then it looking good. It's also much cheaper.

Certificated? Now THAT instills confidence!

Agreed with other people, build the guts first. Then, once you know how big it is, you can start thinking about the case.
