portable yes, check the ben heck wii laptop guide
Hand help em kinda no
Homebrew yes, emulation yes,
For homebrew u can get such things as the mplayer, play all your videos on the wii, or a few others, back up games, play backup games, there is quite a lot check out wiibrew.
Emulation yes, there has recently been a new psx emulator for the wii, and there are already n64, nes emulators and stuff out, hope this helps

For games that don't use the sensor bar, you could just use it as normal, and then have to Wii (modded to have the nunchuk internally, if needed) in the other hand, though that'd be rather heavy. More practical, though more technical, is that since the controller protocol is well documented, you could build a hybrid controller more suited to handheld use. I imagine a wiimote-like controller directly attached via a ball joint with potentiometers for most of the motion, a touch screen for most sensor bar needed games (and a joystick or active digitizer pen to control for the rest), and integrate the nunchuk into the main shell with buttons for common motion.Valium wrote:You couldn't make a handheld Wii, how would you use the wiimote?
