KVUGNG
Just got setup on live tonight but still don't have a controller (I plugged in a keyboard) and am waiting on the new laser for the DVD drive. I was given a Xbox 360 for free, later model with built in HDMI and the heat pipe heatsink. It belonged to a very heavy smoker so it needed a bath. I took it all apart and washed everything except the hard drive with warm, soapy water and an old toothbrush, rinsed clean then put the parts in a food dehydrator at 85F for several hours to evaporate the water. No worries, I've cleaned many smoker's PCs the same way.
I got it free because the DVD drive died from secondhand smoke. First it got glitchy, then it wouldn't read any disc and the tray wouldn't open.
Hopefully boiling the belt and using some dry spray lube on the tray latch and slide will work like it did on my original Xbox. That one cost me $12 with one controller and the DVD remote - just because the tray wouldn't open.
I'm not cracking it open again until the laser arrives, that thing is a PITA to get apart.
