WonderMedia WM8505 Debian Port

Post by iHackedit » Sun Jan 23, 2011 8:37 pm

Hey, I recently bought this and I can put Debian on it (from here) but to do so I have to partition the SD/USB card (1. Format the card with partitions:
1. FAT (32MB will do)
2. EXT2 (rest of the card)
see here)
Can anybody please show me (with noobish pics) on how to do this? Thanks in advanced.

There are tools you can use to do this; here's a quick and dirty walkthrough:

1. Download Parted Magic, burn ISO to a CD-R
2. Shut your PC down, unplug it, and disconnect the power and data cables from your hard drive(s). You don't necessarily HAVE to do this, but it's extra insurance so you don't accidentally wipe your OS
3. Plug your PC back in, turn it on, and boot from the Parted Magic disc you made
4. Insert your SD card into the reader and connect to your PC
5. Once the desktop loads, launch Gparted off the desktop
6. Delete the existing partition on the SD card
7. Create the partitions you need

Why did you buy a Chinatown Special pseudo-netbook? :|
