Need help picking out a graphics card
Moderator:Moderators
Hey guys, my budget is about $100 (less is good), and I would like a good gaming gpu. It can be ati or nvidia, I just need some recommendations. I will be using a mobo with PCIe 2.0, with a quad core gpu and at a resolution near 1440x1280. Thanks guys! Also, I have been recommended the 9800gt, and I dont know if any of the newer cards are any better.

if you have 100 bucks you wont be getting 'top of the line'
the new 6000 series is out now (or soon) so ill be getting one of them.
maybe you should look into them

Re: Need help picking out a graphics card
True, a budget of $100 won't get you top-of-the-line, but it will get you a graphics card that's just fine.
If you don't want to wait for the Radeon 6xxx series to come out, you should check out something like this:
HIS Radeon 5750 at Newegg for $100 after rebate
That is a lot of performance for the price, and I have had good luck with HIS's cards.
If that's a bit expensive for you, you could go a step down and get the 5670:
Sapphire Radeon 5670 at Newegg for $75 after rebate
So far you've had two ATI users, I'm sure you'll get some NVIDIA suggestions soon enough. There's nothing wrong with NVIDIA, I just haven't bothered to keep up with their revised numbering convention since I'm not in the market for a new graphics card. (ATI's numbering convention has stayed the same since I bought my Radeon 4670)

Fight MS Paint abominations! If you don't have a camera, go here, and pick something 3 megapixels or higher.

Re: Need help picking out a graphics card
Ok sweet! Im a little more nvidia biased but ati is fine. I was looking at the nvidia gtx460, do you think that the 5750 would be comparable to that or a 5770?
Re: Need help picking out a graphics card
Hmm i think i will go with a 460 anyways
Re: Need help picking out a graphics card
ok scratch that, ATi it is. Do the 5000's have DX11?
Edit: I see they do, how would a 5770 or 5750 compare to an Nvidia GTX 460?

Actually, I can get a 5830 for the same price, going with one of those now.

Re: Need help picking out a graphics card
i have a 5750 in mine atm, its good for browsing flash games and what not.
i was playing dawn of war and it started to jump when i had too many units on the screen at once.
im upgrading to a 5870, might be a bit out of your budget but good benchmarks

newegg is out of stock but you could probably find another store
