turning on the psu?

Post by stuntpenguin007 » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:32 am

I tried this mod on one of my xbox 360s.

But when I try turn on the xbox, nothing happens. Shouldn't the fan in the psu at least spin to show its working? Do I need to bridge anything to turn it on? I tried that standby wire, but that didn't help.

You need to bridge the green wire to ground.

not always the green wire, sometimes its blue. it needs to be bridged to ground. To check if its working without doing this stick a volt meter between 5vSB and ground, if its around 5 volts then the psu is at least getting power.

As for the power on lead, it needs to be kept bridged so it wouldnt be a bad idea to put a switch between the power on wire and a spare ground lead ( any black wire from the psu).

Its pin 14, see link for identifying pins :).

Also, make sure your power supply can give at least an amp on the 5 volt line and at least 19 amps on the 12 v line (for the most power hungry revision of the xbox.)
